iOS 15:  Facetime

FaceTime makes conversations even more natural in iOS 15. For example, there is now a Portrait mode in FaceTime, so that you can blur the background and there is more attention on your face. A new grid view ensures that all conversation partners are simultaneously in view. During facetime, the audio sounds better thanks to spatial audio. Sound is also better isolated so that you are more intelligible. You can set the microphone to filter out background noise.

In iOS 15, FaceTime now features Portrait mode for video calls, so users are able to blur out their background and put themselves in focus, and mute alerts so it is clearer when you are speaking on mute. There is also a new grid view for group FaceTime calls, enabling participants to see more faces at the same time, and optical zoom control for the back camera.

iOS 15: SharePlay

SharePlay is a new feature that allows users to share experiences with each other during FaceTime calls, with SharePlay you can share watching Apple TV + content (and more) while in FaceTime with friends or family. You can then listen to songs from Apple Music together, watch a movie or episode of a series, and share your screen during the call. SharePlay is available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with shared playback controls, so anyone in the same session can start, pause or skip to the next content. SharePlay also works with Apple TV, so the user can watch a TV series or movie on their TV while participating in a FaceTime video call and SharePlay sharing. Disney +, TikTok, Twitch, and many other services will soon integrate this feature into their apps.

iOS 15: FaceTime Links

Additionally, FaceTime calls also work with other non-Apple devices. Just create a link from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac and share it with Messages, Calendar, Mail, or a third-party app to allow anyone to join via browser from Android and Windows devices. FaceTime calls on the web remain end-to-end encrypted, so privacy isn't compromised.

iOS 15: Messages and Memoji

iOS 15 brings new Memoji stickers - Now you can choose outfits for your Memoji and express yourself with new stickers. Represent your look and style with multi-colored headwear. And accessibility customizations now include cochlear implants, oxygen tubes, and soft helmets.

iOS 15 features nine new Memoji stickers to let you send a shaka, a hand wave, a lightbulb moment, and more. New clothing options - Over 40 new outfit choices with up to three color combinations, including for hardware. Two different eye colors - Memoji now supports a different color for your left eye and your right eye. New glasses options - Three new glasses options, including heart, star, and retro shapes. New accessibility options - Cochlear implants, oxygen tubes, and soft helmets are now represented in Memoji options.

Now the links, images, and other content shared with you in Messages are featured in a new Shared with You section in the corresponding app. You can even reply right from the app you’re enjoying it in — without going back to Messages.
Shared with You is built into Photos, Safari, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and the Apple TV app.
Photos Collection- Multiple photos in Messages now appear as a collage or an elegant stack of images that you can swipe through. Tap to view them all as a grid or add a quick Tapback. And save them to your library with just a few taps.

iOS 15: Focus

iOS 15 includes new tools to avoid distractions. Focus is a new feature that can filter notifications and apps based on what a user wishes to focus on at a certain time. When a user's Focus is blocking incoming notifications, their status will be displayed to others in Messages. iOS will suggest a Focus for different occasions, such as work hours or winding down for bed, using on-device intelligence, but users can also create a custom Focus. When a Focus is set on one Apple device, it automatically applies to other Apple devices.
You can set your own Focus option on your device, or choose one of the standard options. Focus uses machine learning to suggest which people and apps should still message you. This involves looking at your daily habits and routines, for example, the times at which you go to bed. If you set Focus on one device, it also applies to other Apple devices. In addition, you can create a separate home screen with only the apps and widgets you need if you need to be able to concentrate. So you only see the relevant apps and are less likely to be distracted. In the Messages app, friends can see that you're focused so everyone knows you don't want to be disturbed.

iOS 15: Notifications

Notifications look different in iOS 15. You will see a profile picture and larger icons with incoming notifications so that it is easier to see who it is and which app has something to report to you. There's also a new notification view, which includes timed notifications. For example, you only get to see this in the morning or in the evening.
The notifications are now also in order of priority, with the most important at the top. Machine learning on the device is also used for this. You can indicate for a certain app or for a certain type of message that you don't want to see again for the next hour or the rest of the day.

iOS 15: Maps

Improvements for Apple Maps- From now on you will find an interactive globe in the Maps app. The functions for navigating and exploring are also a lot more extensive. City districts, shopping streets, and buildings (complexes) can be viewed in detail, and height information is now also available. While driving you will also see more details of the street, for example, bus lanes and the central reservation. Roads have new colors and labels, landmarks look different and there's also a new moonlight night mode.
If you use Maps on your iPhone or via CarPlay for navigation, you can now drive around the city in 3D. The roads are shown in more detail so that you can see more quickly that an exit, cycle path, or zebra crossing is coming. In public transport, you can quickly see which stations are nearby. You can also secure frequently used a bus or tram lines. The Maps app notifies you when you're about to get out. The AR view of Maps then shows you how to continue walking to your destination.

iOS 15: Safari

What's new in Safari? Safari has a new design that makes it easier to select controls with one hand and bring content to the fore. The new tab bar floats at the bottom of the screen to allow the user to switch between panels. In addition, tab groups allow you to save and access them easily at any time on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. New features include the customizable start page and third-party web extensions in iOS. The address bar has also been moved to the bottom, although you can also move it up yourself if you prefer.

iOS 15: Wallet

Apple Wallet is now suitable for more keys, for example for homes, offices, and hotel rooms. It will be available in more than 1,000 places. The list of supported brands includes Aqara and Schlage. Previously it was already possible to open your brand new BMW with CarKey, but this only works on the latest models. This year, Ultra-Wideband support will be added, so you don't have to take out your iPhone anymore.
In some US states, you can put your driver's license or ID in Wallet later this year. In the US, the Transportation Security Administration has now started adapting the entrance gates at the airports, so that you can pass through them with your digital ID. Credentials in Wallet are stored encrypted in the Secure Element.
The Wallet app will also now automatically archive expired boarding passes and event tickets. Safari also supports adding multiple passes to Wallet in one action instead of having to manually add one pass at a time.

iOS 15: LiveText

Live Text is a new feature to recognize text in photos. It uses machine learning to convert text on photos to written text. You also get the opportunity to do something with it: for example, if there is a phone number in a photo, you can call this number. With Visual Look Up you can learn more about works of art and places of interest around the world. The function can also recognize plants, flowers, and animals. This is similar to Google Lens.

iOS 15: Spotlight

Spotlight is can search photos by locations, people, scenes, or objects, and with Live Text can find typed and handwritten text in photos. Spotlight also offers web image search and new multimedia results for actors, musicians, TV series, and movies. If you're looking for a contact, recent conversations, shared photos, and even their location if shared with Find My now also appear.

iOS 15: Photos

iOS 15 Photos app contains a considerable update to Memories, which now features a new design, integration with Apple Music, a more interactive interface, and Memory looks, with an improved look and feel, an interactive interface, and the ability to add Apple Music. You get appropriate music with your photos. And you can edit the memories yourself with the 'Memory Mixes' function. There are 12 Memory looks that add mood by analyzing each photo and video and applying the correct amount of contrast and color adjustment for a consistent look. There are also new Memory types, including additional international holidays, child-focused memories, trends over time, and improved pet memories, including the ability to recognize individual dogs and cats.

It is also possible to view and edit all of the content from a Memory in a bird's-eye view, and a Watch Next section suggests related memories to watch.

People identification features improved recognition for individuals, and it is easier to correct naming mistakes in the People album. There is an option to Feature Less to let Photos know that you would prefer to see less of a specific date, place, holiday, or person across Featured Photos, the Photos widget, Memories, and highlighted in the Library tab.

In iOS 15, Photos features a richer Info pane to view information about the photo, such as the camera, lens, and shutter speed, the file size, or who sent a Shared with You photo in Messages. You can also edit the date taken or location, add a caption, and learn about items detected by Visual Look Up.

The Photos image picker, including in the Messages app, now allows you to select photos in a specific order for sharing. Third-party apps can also offer simpler selection workflows when you grant access to specific content in the Photos library.

iOS 15: Health

In iOS 15, the Health app has a new sharing tab that allows users to share their selected health data with family or caregivers. Lab results have been enhanced with descriptions, highlights, and the option to pin results for quick access. Health can now detect Trends, drawing users' attention to meaningful changes in personal health metrics.
Apple will show more trends via the Health app, for example, if a certain value changes quickly. There will also be a value for Walking Stability, with which Apple records all kinds of data about your walking behavior, such as stride length and the length of time that both feet are on the ground. You can also exchange health data with family and friends, just like you already share your location. The family members can then monitor your vitals.

iOS 15: Privacy

Great features should not have to come at the expense of your privacy. iOS 15 provides increased visibility into how apps access your data, protects you from unwanted data collection, and gives you more control over what you choose to share including App Privacy Report, Mail Privacy Protection, and Siri.

iOS 15: iCloud+

Get everything you already love about iCloud — and new features including iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, and expanded HomeKit Secure Video support. 10
This new service is available to anyone who subscribes to iCloud already with no changes in pricing. It adds the ability for you to generate one-off burner emails when you're signing up for a service on the web; expands HomeKit Secure Video support; and adds a feature called iCloud Private Relay (currently available in beta with a final version coming later), which encrypts all the internet traffic leaving your device so that no one can view your data, somewhat like a virtual private network.
